From 2005-2007 The Gamers were Long Island's premeire softball team, winning games and the hearts of adoring fans, left and right. Led by the greatest double play combination in the history of men's slow pitch softball, Rob Roll and Rob Rathbun, the Gamers tore through the ABA record books in historic fashion. After scoring 73 runs in one game it looked like the Gamers were an unstoppable force but it all came crashing down when star pitcher Craig Shames suffered a Rick Ankielesque meltdown on the mound in the 7th inning of the championship game, walking 8 batters in a row to give up a 5 run lead.
That loss was so devastating that the Gamers disbanded soon thereafter and were never heard from again. Until now that is. After a two year hiatus, Craig Shames has returned to try and avenge his now infamous meltdown and he's bringing back some of the old gang with him. LCF Brian Malfettone and RCF Scott Zimmerman will be returning as well as the entire Roll crew of Rob, Greg, and Dave. Along with new additions Seth Koslow, Adam Goldberg, Jeremy Webman, Tom McGrath, Danny Ballestas and Jon Zafonte they have set out to restore the Gamers name and finally win that elusive championship.
The Gamers are back baby!!!!
